Fork Union Aquatic Club's Plans after March 2016

At the conclusion of the current Short Course season in April 2016, Fork Union Military Academy will discontinue the public availability of Fork Union Aquatic Club membership and operate solely as a private club offering for our cadets, fulfilling the club's original intent and role in allowing our cadets to train and compete all year round instead of just within our season of interscholastic competition. This will affect approximately two dozen swimmers who have previously participated as public members of the Fork Union Aquatic Club. With the number of clubs and pools now available in Fluvanna, Charlottesville, and Richmond, there will remain plenty of access for these swimmers to continue participation in USA Swimming at another high quality club close by within our area. All family/swimmer contracts and commitments will continue in effect until the end of March 2016. The next season does not begin until May with the Long Course, for which our public members will need to join another area USA Swimming club in order to participate. Our "Learn to Swim Program" will not be affected, and will continue to operate at various times throughout the year and be available to the public.

We have greatly enjoyed helping and watching the fine swimmers of our club develop and grow in ability. We have the greatest confidence that each will find success in new club homes and will continue to be strong competitors in local and state meets in the seasons ahead. We will greatly miss having them represent Fork Union Aquatic Club, but know full well that each will bring credit to themselves and to their new teams.
